Aria Kamal

I have called Barrie my home for nineteen years. Prior to attending law school at Lakehead University’s Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, I obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Society from York University.

During law school, I assisted women seeking separation from their partners at the Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre, a community-based organization in Thunder Bay, Ontario. As one of the first student caseworkers at Pro Bono Students Canada’s Family Justice Centre, I assisted self-represented litigants with their family law proceedings and empowered my clients to participate meaningfully in their own cases. Through these experiences, I have understood the importance of learning to recognize the lived experiences and unique circumstances of my clients to the best of my ability.

After articling at a law firm specializing in civil litigation in Toronto, I was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2023 and am currently developing my family law practice at Chapman Steffler LLP. Outside of the office, I can be found perfecting my ballet skills or staying active at the nearest Pilates studio.
